GUT STRING RECORDS releases the debut album for the jazz duo of guitarist Dion Berardo and bassist Kimon Karoutzos, “DIG!”. In an intimate setting such as the guitar and bass duo, the music blends bebop melodies, blues feeling and sparkling solos, all with presence of a constant communication between the two instrumentalists. The album consists of ten tracks, two original compositions, two rearranged folk songs and six compositions by legendary jazz composers such as Miles Davis and Ray Bryant.

The two musicians, Dion Berardo and Kimon Karoutzos, although originally from Greece, they are both based between New York City and Athens, Greece. Dion Berardo, considered one of the finest young jazz guitarists in the jazz scene as well as in the gypsy jazz scene have been touring all over the world and performing in major festivals with his own bands such as the “Django Amsterdam”, “Django Reinhardt Jazz Festival” in Fontainebleau, “ELBJazz” in Hamburg and many others.

Kimon Karoutzos, considered one of the finest young jazz bassists to emerge from Europe, has performed with some of the most renowned jazz musicians such as Cyrus Chestnut, Arturo O’Farrill, Wycliffe Gordon, Ethan Iverson and Gregory Hutchinson among others.
